Old Truth, New Life

Reading of the Day: 1 Samuel 8-10

1 Samuel 10:9: And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.

The amazing thing about The Word of God is that it is forever settled in Heaven & does not change...it is a living Word, because He IS The Word! But this unchanging Word has the ability to change US! That amazes me! Psalms 119:89: "For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven." We are about to begin the journey of a man named Saul as he becomes the first king of Israel, and in order do go forward in the process, he needed another heart. Our unchanging God gave him something new! He needed a heart which would be prepared to lead a people, under God (although Samuel warns the people that having a king would not be the best thing for them, they ask for one anyway.) But at least for a time, Saul has a heart which makes him ready to take on this role. It would be up to him to keep his heart pure & ready for God to use! Through God, we too can receive a new heart! Ezekiel 18:31: "Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?" Praise God! He gives us a new heart, His Spirit dwelling in us, which then allows us to live a new life entirely! A life free from the sin, shame & bondage of the past! We must repent, get baptized & get the Holy Ghost so we can live forever in Heaven with Him one day! More than the kingdom of Israel which Saul would lead, there is a greater Heavenly Kingdom we all must desire to reside in...and we can only do that through this process of allowing God to change & transform us! One of the oldest Truths of His Word is His desire to make things NEW!

2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

Revelation 21:5: "And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful."

There's nothing more refreshing than becoming new in Jesus Christ! And the beauty of it is, it's not just a one-time thing! After we go through that 3-step process of repenting, getting baptized & getting the Holy Ghost, we can live a life of newness, repentance & refreshing every day like never before! Pray & talk to God! Come to church, come into the arms of Jesus & see what He will do!
