One touch at the altar...

Reading of the Day: Exodus 29-31

Exodus 29:37: Seven days thou shalt make an atonement for the altar, and sanctify it; and it shall be an altar most holy: whatsoever toucheth the altar shall be holy.

Holiness is presented to us as a process. The things Aaron & his sons did to sanctify the altar & tabernacle unto The Lord was not something that was to be taken lightly. It was a special process which allowed that place to be all that God expected it to be. Not only was the area sanctified holy unto The Lord, but Aaron & his sons were anointed with blood & oil which allowed them to have a holy access to this place. It is such a sacred & special thing! And Jesus also gives us this ability to experience holiness as well-and it all starts at the altar! One touch at the altar, one hand layed upon us in prayer at the end of a church service, one change of heart...it all leads us into a life of holiness with Him! That one touch opens the door to the whole process! And that's what we have to remember-it's a sacred process...but not one that is impossible to achieve! Each day we search His Word & simply ask, "What can I move aside so You can dwell freely here? How can I be closer to You?" In receiving the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in new tongues, we receive a nearness beyond anything else, one that reaches all the way to Heaven! We receive Jesus inside of us! And just to think...it can all begin with one touch at the altar, as this Scripture talks about! So next time there's altar call, answer! God is calling!
