Our Lifesaver
Based on Isaiah 23-25, Philippians 1
"For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall." Isaiah 25:4
It's important to remember, from Old to New Testament, God has not only wanted to help us, but SAVE us! We are not only to rely on God "just to get by" in this present world...we are to rely on Him to "get us through" to Heaven! He is our Lifesaver, and we must follow His salvational plan! This passage of Isaiah talks of what God HAS BEEN up to that point-strength to the poor & distressed, our refuge, so many things...but it's important to remember what He WILL BE, now & forever-our Savior!
"And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation." Isaiah 25:9
Are we waiting on God? Are we looking for Him, and will we recognize Him when He comes again? The only way to know this is if we are seeking Him NOW! When we get to know God through studying His Word, repenting & opening ourselves up to His Spirit & getting baptized, we get as close as we can be to Jesus before He comes again-and when He returns, we will recognize Him as our Heavenly Husbandman because we first recognized Him as our Savior!
"What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ," Philippians 1:18-19
Prayer & the unlimited supply of His Spirit is all part of His beautiful salvational plan for us! Along with repentance & baptism, we begin a beautiful relationship with Jesus which time cannot steal from us! It's an eternal relationship! He is not only our Lifesaver, but our Eternal Lifesaver as well!
