Reliance Alliance

Based 2 Chronicles 16-18, Psalm 127

The people who lead this nation deserve respect. The people who defend this nation deserve honor. But no one deserves more respect and honor than our God! We should worship God ALONE! Relying on others in such a way that takes our focus off of God creates a deadly alliance-and exercise in futility! We need a reliance alliance with God! Full trust in Him means full victory!

"And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the Lord thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand." 2 Chronicles 16:7.

Asa started off his reign as king of Judah in a great relationship with The Lord. That relationship caused a reliance on God when things got tough...he took away the idols & there was peace for a while...but he soon began to fear the world more than God. He felt the need to strengthen his earthly relationships more than his spiritual relationship with God. Asa ended up making a reliance alliance with the king of Syria, so God did not allow that relationship to prosper. It wouldn't have worked out anyway because no one is as powerful as God!

"And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the Lord, but to the physicians." 2 Chronicles 16:12.

When Asa fell sick, he did not rely on The Lord either, but he looked to the physicians. While there's nothing wrong with going to the doctor, there's something powerful & protective about praying for a healing. Think about it...doctors can know a remedy, but there's no guaranteeing that your body will take it the way it's supposed to. God's prescriptions don't come with side effects!!

Also, Asa was a guy who was able to have peace for 35 years of his reign when he relied on God. I think God could have healed him instantly, had he just prayed, or even just prayed before going to the doctor to get a good report! God wanted to see where his heart was at.

"Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain." Psalms 127:1.

If we are not doing things to glorify God, we may as well be doing nothing! If we put faith in this world over our faith in God, nothing we do will prosper. God gets blamed for so much by people who forget to invite Him into their lives in the first place. We can't just make messes and expect God to clean them up! We need to let God's power work in our lives & ask for God's Will to be done. That's where we find peace, because no one can stand against Jesus!! Create a reliance alliance with Him today!
