Resting on The Rock

Reading of the Day: Genesis 28-30

Genesis 28:18: And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

Although a rock isn't the ideal pillow to rest on, the Rock Who is Jesus Christ is quite a soft place to land and find rest! He is our Rock & firm foundation. We find not only rest in Him, but comfort & security as well. Jacob found rest in The Rock, both physically and spiritually! When he was on his way to find a wife among some long-distanced relatives, he stopped to "set up camp" by literally using a rock as a pillow & calling it a night. He soon had a dream of angels going up & down a ladder, and The Lord spoke to him telling him how generations after him would continue to be blessed. Jacob then awoke in shock, surprise & terror, not realizing that God was with him the whole time! So he picked up that pillow & turned it into a monumental pillar in order to remember this special encounter...although this would be one of many! We never want to forget that The Lord is always with us and wanting to stay connected to us! I truly enjoy studying Jacob's journey...because that's exactly what it is, a journey. One where Jacob begins very unfamiliar with The Lord, making many mistakes, but over time, he grows closer & closer to Him. Resting on The Rock does not only mean praying "Now I lay me down to sleep." It means carrying Him with us as we rise out of bed in the morning! It means resting in Him as we run all the errands & do all the things! It's remembering what He spoke to us in our quiet moments...like Jacob, maybe in a dream! Rest on Him. Rest in Him. Rest with Him. Let's make our "pillow prayer time" a pillar & testimony for His glory on OUR journeys too!

Surviving the Peace Plummet

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. Peacefulness is like that one workout that you know is going to take the most time...

A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...
