Right, or Righteous?

Based on Job 5-7, Acts 8:1-25

Ever come up with the right thing to say, but at the wrong time? Sometimes, it seems like a debate or conversation is set up for the perfect comment or comeback...and it seems so right to say it...but is it? Instead of just wanting to be right to prove a point, we need to be concerned more with being righteous! And that sometimes means holding our tongue instead of letting it run wild with all the fiery darts of comebacks we have stored up!

"How forcible are right words! But what doth your arguing reprove? Do ye imagine to reprove words, And the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind? Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, And ye dig a pit for your friend." Job 6:25‭-‬27

With saying the "right thing" at the "wrong time," we are doing nothing but pushing that person further down in the pit they're already sinking into...they may be fatherless, or just looking for someone to give them some good advice...but instead, we choose to magnify the negativity in their situation rather than doing the righteous thing: praying with them & being patient. Again, instead of wanting to be "right," we must wan to be righteous! As in the last post, an encourager instead of a discourager!

"What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? And that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him? And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, And try him every moment?" Job 7:17‭-‬18

Job was someone who definitely realized how frail his life was in the Hands of God...in a moment or a season, it could easily be taken from him...but he also realized how invested God is in our lives for that very same reason! God sets His heart upon us! He knows there's people out there who will just speak things thinking they are "right," but really they are so wrong...He knows people will point out the weaknesses of others and use that against them...but God won't use those weaknesses against us! HE IS THE GREATEST RIGHTEOUS ONE! He wants to help us in our WEAKEST moments!

"Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them:and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city." Acts 8:5‭-‬8

The church was at a weak point when Philip went to Samaria...many Chriatians were scattered out of Jerusalem because of intense persecution...there were attacks from people who thought they were "right" in what they were doing against these Christian's, but really, they were so wrong! So what did Philip do? He kept building the church! The harsh persecution because of people who thought they were "right" didn't mean that righteousness should cease! And there was great joy in the city of Samaria!

Let there be great joy in our hearts as we let righteousness reign!
