Rise Up in the Down Time
Bible Reading 6/25: 1 Kings 15:1-24, 2 Chronicles 13-16
And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest. 2 Chronicles 14:6
While it's nice to enjoy a good rest, take a break & do nothing, those breaks & "down times" could be used to be productive & prepare ahead for upcoming tasks...just like king Asa did in Judah in this above Scripture! The Lord gave him rest from war & the attack of the enemy ten years...but he didn't look at it like a vacation or retirement! He got busy preparing for later battles, strengthening his city & protecting his people! He built fenced cities BECAUSE he had rest! From his perspective, rest was another tool or weapon he could use against a future enemy! We need to have that perspective too! Let's rest when we need to, but let's not waste time! Instead, let's prepare for the next big task or upcoming events! God will help us & then it won't seem so overwhelming!
