Ruin, or Restoration?
Bible Reading Today: Ezekiel 24-27
Ezekiel 27:27 Thy riches, and thy fairs, thy merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy calkers, and the occupiers of thy merchandise, and all thy men of war, that are in thee, and in all thy company which is in the midst of thee, shall fall into the midst of the seas in the day of thy ruin.
Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to build downwards. How? When we do things backwards and opposite of the way we should! We are not making any progress toward what REALLY matters. Yes, we have something to show for our efforts, but is it something that's going to last? The way to tell if something will come to ruin or help restore us is based on the foundation. As this Scripture from Ezekiel tells us, the great city of Tyrus, with all its riches, fairs, merchandise, mariners, pilots, calkers, occupiers, men of war, the company of people in it, everything it had...was prohesied to fall into the sea on the day of its ruin! All those things wouldn't necessarily have been bad if they were obtained for God's glory instead of self-gain. Remember, the end doesn't justify the means...God cares about honesty, integrity, and righteousness...even in business! We want to build upwards, upon a sure, Biblical foundation...something that will sustain us, restore us daily, and ultimately protect us from ruin!
