Seek & Find

Based on 2 Chronicles 15-16, John 12:27-50

"But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them." 2 Chronicles 15:4

It seems like a simple concept-seek God and He will be found...but how often do we forget to seek Him? We sometimes just sit there and wait for God to calm the sea, or send fire from Heaven, or do some great miracle without us even having to call on His Name...but that's not the way it works! We must purpose ourselves to seek Him so He can be found. It's not hide and seek, because God does not complicate the process...in fact, He is present in His Word if we take the time to seek the Scriptures! We must be intentional, not idle in waiting for Him to act without us doing a thing!

"Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded." 2 Chronicles 15:7

When we bring the addition, all that we can do, God brings the multiplication! When we turn to God to see us through a job, He will bring great reward! King Asa did this for a while and found favor with God. He purposed himself to seek God first & was already following Matthew 6:33: "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

"For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars. Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in a prison house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people the same time." 2 Chronicles 16:9‭-‬10

Not long after Asa relied on God, he turned away and relied on other kings and made leagues with them. He forgot the covenant he had with his God. He sought out another solution instead of seeking God! We need to be careful that we don't seek after things that disconnect us from God...we need to seek Him alone & He shall be found!

"Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; That they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, And be converted, And I should heal them."

John 12:39‭-‬40

God allows us to believe what we desire to. God allows people to turn away from Him. He allows people to seek after other false hopes, and therefore people try to play hide & seek with God! But remember, God doesn't hide. He is an open Book-if we open that Book! He knows where we are, even when we try to hide ourselves in another place, worshipping other things rather than God. Love requires action on our part, in any relationship, but especially our relationship with God! We must seek, then we SHALL FIND!
