Silent Night
Based on Habakkuk 1-3, Revelation 15
"O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save! Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention." Habakkuk 1:2-3
We all long for a silent, non-stressful night. Normally, when we think of this song, we think "peace." But what about the silent, longing nights? The lonely nights? The nights spent waiting for an answer which never comes? God sees you in those moments too. He sees us & hears us even in the times we think He doesn't, as Habakkuk was lamenting about. Habakkuk asks why, in what seems like the absence of His presence, he must see such undesirable things take place...but while God is the ultimate Lover of our souls, He is also the only just Judge. He brings both our answer and His judgment when the time is right, and we must know that when we stand on The Lord's side, we will be on the right side of judgment! We will be right in a wrong world! We will be okay on those silent, lonely, sometimes scary nights.
"For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry." Habakkuk 2:3
There is an appointed time for the answers we seek & for the help we need. God won't abandon us! Even in a world where we'd rather not see some of the things that are out there, we can have that silent, peaceful night instead of that silent, restless night!
"For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea." Habakkuk 2:14
Everyone will know of our God! He has a plan in place! He won't ever leave us confused...just seek Him, and you'll find all you need!
"But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him." Habakkuk 2:20
The Lord is in His temple! But are we turning a deaf ear to Him? Are we creating the loneliness in our silent night by "turning up this world" too loudly, and not listening to the voice of God? Let's not be afraid of silence...let's await with anticipation, knowing an answer is on its way!
"Although the fig tree shall not blossom, Neither shall fruit be in the vines; The labour of the olive shall fail, And the fields shall yield no meat; The flock shall be cut off from the fold, And there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation." Habakkuk 3:17-18

Surviving the Peace Plummet
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. Peacefulness is like that one workout that you know is going to take the most time...
A Moment of Silence.
As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...
The Heart of the Struggle
Focus Scripture: But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19 Hello again! It's been about 4 months since I've stepped back into this space, and I have to say, I am taking very gentle steps. It's been on my heart so much to write again, but I am treading lightly. I may not post every day, unless God leads me there again...but for now, I am just moving forward in God's grace. I have some blog ideas stored up that I've been saving over time as I reflect upon His...
