Stay Awhile

Based on 2 Samuel 21-22, Luke 18:24-43

"They prevented me in the day of my calamity: But the LORD was my stay."

2 Samuel 22:19

There is so much in this life we could use a break from. An escape. A breather...but when it comes to God's presence, it's worth staying awhile! In His presence, you'll want more of Him and will see that Jesus IS our Oasis! He is our "in earth as it is in Heaven"(Matthew 6:10)! He is our safe place & refuge, away from the things we are experiencing...but He gives us the strength in our safe place with Him to go back into our battles & win victories! So don't shy away from God's presence! Never deny that more of Him is the answer! Jesus is our stay, our safe place...so stay awhile!

"And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God." Luke 18:38‭-‬43.

This man was blind. Searching for answers in his dark world. Unable to see where to go, what to do. But when he heard Jesus was there, he cried out to Him. He didn't say, "Oh, that's nice. Maybe someone will receive a miracle today..." Nope! That blind man decided it was time for HIS miracle! He decided to push it further...he started to face persecution, but he didn't quiet down! HE WANTED TO STAY AWHILE IN GOD'S PRESENCE! He wanted this to be his moment! He cried MORE! Through Jesus, that persistent faith healed him! And then, just like Jesus' presence went on finding others to heal, this man went on too! He followed Jesus and did not want to leave His presence! In fact, an atmosphere of praise & glorifying God was created! What a great church service!

Do we chase God back? Or do we wait for Him quietly to find us? Do we cry out? Or do we just hope for the best? Jesus knows where we are at & what we are going through, but how badly do we want Him as much as He wants us? Do we want to stay awhile, or just a little bit? We need to stay long enough for the miracle, and then never want to leave Him!

"When the waves of death compassed me, The floods of ungodly men made me afraid; The sorrows of hell compassed me about; The snares of death prevented me; In my distress I called upon the LORD, And cried to my God: And he did hear my voice out of his temple, And my cry did enter into his ears." 2 Samuel 22:5‭-‬7.

No matter what tries to prevent us today, let's stay a little longer in His presence! Let's call upon the Name of Jesus! Let's go to church, in that atmosphere of praise! HE WILL HEAR US, HEAL US AND HELP US SO WE CAN BE SAVED...and not just saved from our current calamity, but for ETERNITY!

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38.
