Staying through the Storm

Reading of the Day 4/17/25: 2 Kings 6-8

2 Kings 6:33: And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evil is of the LORD; what should I wait for the LORD any longer?

It is very difficult to stay put through a storm. We lose contentment very easily, especially if we have to go out & drive somewhere, or we are already out. But as mentioned in a past post, that same storm & inconvenience causes the growth of the next season! This is the spring season we are in now...although much of winter still lingers in between. In the above Scripture, a messenger runs to the prophet Elisha because the king was blaming him for all the unfortunate things going on in Israel at the time (famine, the king of Syria taking over their city, their own people turning on each other, and many more dark things). Elisha doesn't even let the messenger in the door, and the messenger turns to the king behind him & basically says, “This disaster is from the Lord. Why should I wait for the Lord any longer?” (NIV version of above Scripture). It seems as though the people were blaming God, and giving up on God altogether. They were reluctant to stick it out & stay through the storm. The corruption of the kings at this time was definitely causing judgment upon Israel, but the people forgot that the same God Who judges is the same God Who forgives! Instead of repentence, the people said, "Why should I wait for God any longer?" The exact reason God was judging them was for distancing themselves from Him, and their response was to create more distance instead of running back into His arms! We must not forget how much He loves us! We must not abandon Him through the storms & trials! We must stay through the storm, leaning on Him & learning how we can grow through what we are going through! This too shall pass, and we will come out stronger if we stay close to Jesus!
