Target Practice
Bible Reading Today: 2 Kings 12-13, 2 Chronicles 24
And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them. 2 Kings 13:17
King Joash ran to the prophet Elisha in desperation, weeping over the state of the army of Israel. He desperately wanted victory in warfare against the enemy. So, Elisha put his hands over Joash's hands, and shot an arrow out the window. Elisha called that the arrow of The Lord's deliverance! That sign seemed pretty simple! Later, Elisha aaked Joash to smite the ground, and he only smote it 3 times. Elisha got upset, and basically stated that if he would have hit the ground more times, he would have had more victories! Shooting arrows. Smiting the ground. It's all target practice! But how bad do we want to win the victory? We can't stop short in the training in preparation for our battles ahead! Maybe if we just allow the Spiritual people in our lives to guide our hands a little. Maybe is we just pray one more minute...the more we put our faith in God into practice, the more we win!
