That Which is Right 

Based on 2 Kings 14-15, Psalm 72

"He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor."
Psalms 72:4.

God has the final say. He knows what's right, for HE ALONE is righteous! He defines "right" and "wrong" and sets the tone and standard. There are so many sides to the story today, and so many voices speaking out...when everyone seems right, is everyone really wrong? What, or Who, are we missing? I think from the description and Scripture above, we can gather that it's God!

"And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord , yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did." 2 Kings 14:3.

In this reading, it seemed as though every other king was either evil or good (mostly evil). Not many of the kings reigned with God in mind, and they faced much destruction inside their kingdoms, and faced much persecution from their enemies outside as well. However, there were kings like Amaziah above, who overall did that which was right in the sight of The Lord.

"Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face." 2 Kings 14:8.

Now this seems like an interesting strategy-coming face to face with your enemy. If it was face to face to discuss a situation in order to solve a problem, that may have been the better solution...maybe that's what Amaziah was aiming for? But the king of Israel definitely had domination on his mind:

"And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to their tents. And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth–shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits. And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the king's house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria."
2 Kings 14:12‭-‬14.

Unfortunately, so many important landmarks & items were destroyed because of this tension between 2 groups. Instead of looking to God to solve this problem, many unfortunate situations took place.

"Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there."
2 Kings 14:19.

There were many Scriptures in this passage which discussed making conspiracies against the kings. So much of these anger-driven scenarios are comparable to what our world is experiencing today! Stealing from The Lord's house, people taking sides, anger against those in authority...when every voice trying to be heard, no voice is heard. We need to listen to God's voice! He knows that which is right!

"In the thirty and eighth year of Azariah king of Judah did Zachariah the son of Jeroboam reign over Israel in Samaria six months. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, as his fathers had done: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin. And Shallum the son of Jabesh conspired against him, and smote him before the people, and slew him, and reigned in his stead." 2 Kings 15:8‭-‬10.

One bad thing easily causes another to take place! God passes His Word down through each generation, but if we are not careful, we can take hold of the sin that passes down as well. Just remember-God has the final say over ALL. Now more than ever we need to be on The Lord's side-He has our best interests on mind!
