The Build-Up

Reading of the Day: 4/25/25: 1 Chronicles 5-7

1 Chronicles 7:24: (And his daughter was Sherah, who built Bethhoron the nether, and the upper, and Uzzen-sherah.)

As we continue through the listing out of all the geneologies & families of the tribes of Israel, we come across a scenario where a man named Ephraim had sons who were listed out, just as the others were before & after him. But in this instance, we get a small glimpse into the story of what happened to those in his family. He had many sons, but they were killed by the men of Gath because they went to take away their cattle. Ephraim started mourning the great loss, and soon his wife had many more sons to follow! But in between this listing of the next generation of the sons of Ephraim, we see a daughter in the Scripture above...her name was Sherah. And just as Ephraim & his wife began to re-build their broken family, their daughter began to build up cities! Not only is this encouraging at a time of loss, but it is very interesting that a woman of that time made it a priority to build up these cities! She seemed quick to notice that when sadness, stress & deep sorrow are building up, we need to focus our attention on building up some good things! We need to remember that we are built on the sure foundation of God! In placing ourselves upon The Rock, we are establishing & positioning ourselves for success, no matter what situations arise & cause a build-up of tension & stress! A family is re-born & re-built! Cities are built up from nothing! Out of ashes, we also CAN and WILL rise! Isaiah 61:3: "To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified."
