The Calm before the Storm

Bible Reading Today: Matthew 8: 14-34, Mark 4-5

Mark 4:38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

Jesus and the storm on the sea is a great story with so many lessons on problem-solving. Contrary to popular belief, "panic" is never the right choice! Jesus was sleeping as the storm grew worse, but He was definitely aware of what was happening. As we've all heard, there's always a calm before the storm...and this story shows that there's some truth to that! Jesus calmly slept before the storm. He approached the problem from a place of rest and not restlessness. He had everything He needed within Himself to calm the storm with a calm approach, and the disciples should have known that after many miraculous encounters with Jesus! But instead, the disciples asked, "Don't You care that we're going to die!?" Of course He does! He cares so much, that this storm was a just test of the strength of their faith. Clearly, they still had some work to do...and so do we! We can rest on The Lord instead of panicking in our next problem. That way, the Calm before the storm can still be the Calm after the storm...because that Calm is Jesus!

Mark 4:39-40 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...
