The Extra Mile

Gina Pietrzak

Based on Numbers 5-6, Mark 4:1-20

Wait a minute...the extra mile?? How about the strenuous path we are already on!? Life is demanding. That's just the way it goes. But thankfully, with Jesus, He gives us peace along the way. Strength along the way. Comfort along the way...think about it like climbing a mountain...beyond that extra mile is an incredible view!

"He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried. All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree, from the kernels even to the husk. All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the Lord , he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow."
Numbers 6:3‭-‬5.

Those who desired to take a Nazarite vow back in those tabernacle days did exactly this. They went that extra mile. Beyond the usual standards and expectations, they pushed themselves beyond their comfort zones! They wanted to do more for God! No athlete wants to come in last, some settle for trying their best, but some push for more than their best...and the only way we can push for more than our best performance is by relying on God's power! This type of vow separated from the rest, but they didn't care about being different, because they were doing God's best! God has more in store for us than this world can ever offer...go the extra mile in His Kingdom first, then see all that will follow! Again, such an incredible view!

Let God's Word into your heart...but don't let it pass through. Let it stay. Let it abide, tabernacle & reside! Jesus IS His Word!! Take a Nazarite vow to follow Him every step of the way, because He is with us every step of our journey!

"And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred." Mark 4:20.

Jesus already went beyond the Nazarite vow to show His commitment to us. He went beyond the extra mile. Beyond the grave! He will help us get beyond our problems by pressing into His power! Some thirty fold, some sixty, some an hundred...let's be 100 percent on board with Jesus! This world may leave us exhausted to keep going, let alone going that extra mile...but Jesus keeps us motivated & inspired!!!

Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. Peacefulness is like that one workout that you know is going to take the most time...

A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...

The Heart of the Struggle

Focus Scripture: But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19 Hello again! It's been about 4 months since I've stepped back into this space, and I have to say, I am taking very gentle steps. It's been on my heart so much to write again, but I am treading lightly. I may not post every day, unless God leads me there again...but for now, I am just moving forward in God's grace. I have some blog ideas stored up that I've been saving over time as I reflect upon His...
