The Flock by Night

Gina Pietrzak

Based on Zechariah 9-12, Revelation 20

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night." Luke 2:8

I know I'm "intro-ing" with a Scripture outside of this particular reading, but with God, there are correlations all over His Word! Zechariah also talks of the shepherds which were around during his time (before the birth of Jesus), and many of them were idol shepherds who weren't caring for their flocks! He also talks about the King coming for the salvation of his people...The Great Shepherd coming for the salvation of the shepherds! The Lamb of God redeeming us, His TRUE flock of sheep! How beautiful a scene it must have been to see the shepherds beholding their Shepherd on that first Christmas night...

"Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass."

Zechariah 9:9

Zechariah talks of exactly what would happen when Jesus would come riding a donkey into Jerusalem, with people celebrating & rejoicing! He came lowly unto us, yet as our Great Shepherd, has given us the greatest gift-HIMSELF. HIS PLAN OF SALVATION. THE WAY FOR ETERNAL LIFE! Repent & get baptized of water & Spirit! That's His plan, and through it we are forever His flock!

"Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened." Zechariah 11:17

Let's be loyal to our Shepherd! Let's be loyal to our flock & our church! Let's see Jesus coming in all His glory, just like He showed by the light of a twinkling star in a stable.

Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. Peacefulness is like that one workout that you know is going to take the most time...

A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...

The Heart of the Struggle

Focus Scripture: But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19 Hello again! It's been about 4 months since I've stepped back into this space, and I have to say, I am taking very gentle steps. It's been on my heart so much to write again, but I am treading lightly. I may not post every day, unless God leads me there again...but for now, I am just moving forward in God's grace. I have some blog ideas stored up that I've been saving over time as I reflect upon His...
