The Good Lord

Based on 2 Chronicles 30-31, John 18:1-18

"For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, and Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the passover otherwise than it was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, The good LORD pardon every one that prepareth his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary." 2 Chronicles 30:18‭-‬19

God is so good, so merciful, so loving & wanting us to be close to Him. Everything He does is good, and it's all FOR our good...many things we choose to do seem good at first, but then we say, "Maybe I should have chosen something else." With prayer & direction of God like Hezekiah, we can know what's good for us! When we come to Him, preparing our hearts to seek Him, He brings us through that cleansing process of Acts 2:38 for our souls: Repentance, water baptism in Jesus' Name & receiving the Holy Ghost! Then, we are ready to live a good life with our Good Lord!

"And Hezekiah spake comfortably unto all the Levites that taught the good knowledge of the LORD: and they did eat throughout the feast seven days, offering peace offerings, and making confession to the LORD God of their fathers." 2 Chronicles 30:22

When we live that ultimate good life with Jesus, that one that is after His heart & not chasing after false hopes in this world, we get that good knowledge & direction through His Word, just like Hezekiah re-introduced to the people! They offered offerings. They made confessions. They were no longer chasing unfulfilling idols. They were back in the Hands of The Good Lord! No better place to be!

"Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way: that the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none." John 18:7‭-‬9

The guards sought Jesus too...but they sought to kill Him. When we seek Jesus, we must do it as 2 Chronicles 30:18-19 says: prepare our hearts to seek The Lord! He will pardon us when our hearts have been prepared through repentance. He will cleanse us when we enter the waters of baptism & He will fill us when He gives us His Spirit! The saying is fulfilled, and WE are fulfilled! And when we are fully given over to Him, we will no longer be lost. God is so good, and He never makes a mistake in being control of our lives. When The Good Lord is on the throne of our hearts, a good life is the only possible product of that! No matter the sufferings we may face, God and His goodness will bring us through!
