The Key to Connection

Based on Exodus 19-20, Matthew 18:21-35

We've all heard of the key and the kite lightning electrical experiment conducted by Benjamin Franklin. The key, attached to the kite, was the way in which he was able to show how lightning can be used to produce an electrical current.

But, there is a another, more important key we need in our connection to God: forgiveness! Although it is essential that we receive the 3 keys of the Kingdom (Repent, Baptism & receiving the Holy Ghost), we also need to have mercy & forgive, just as God always does for us! This loosens us from the bonds of connection to our problems and helps us to focus on our connection to God!

"And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die. And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not. And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was." Exodus 20:18-21.

Before this occurrence, the Israelites murmured against the plan God gave Moses. Although He brought them out of Egypt, the people were hesitant to believe much of what was happening. They kept wondering if they were going to be taken care of...but still, God wanted to reveal Himself partially to them in the mountain. God gave Moses the 10 Commandments & wanted to forgive them and give them more opportunities to connect. Moses said this fear was to teach them reverence to God and to encourage them to sin no more.

But, the people were afraid of the power of God and were still hesitant to connect, so Moses went forth...

God has so much mercy! He is always willing to forgive and give us a fresh start! How much do we really want it? As you can see, God is always doing all He can to reach us. Are we reaching back? Is the spark of connection igniting?

"Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven." Matthew 18:21‭-‬22.

Jesus is so patient, so longsuffering, all for the love and desire He has to connect with us! He died for us, so let's live for Him! FORGIVE! Put the past behind! Go forward with that person you've had trouble forgiving, and go forward with God! Let there be a lightning shock of life back into your friendships and relationship with God!
