The King is Here!

Based on 1 Kings 1-2, Luke 19:28-48

For any guests, we try our best to prepare our home to be as neat as possible. With 4 kids, the definition of "neat" has definitely fluctuated in meaning over the years! "Neat" can also simply mean "decent" or "we can see the floor." But what about if royalty was coming over? As a Mom, I honestly don't think I could be prepared for that...at least, up to their royal standards! One thing is for sure though-if it EVER happened, it would be a time of celebration and excitement!

When king Solomon was named king after his father David, and Adonijah heard the rejoicing, he was terrified. Adonijah was Solomon's brother from another mother, and he was trying to become king even though the kingdom was already promised to Solomon! The rejoicing he heard for Solomon was so great that all the people he was gathered with fled, because they realized who the REAL king was!

"And Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon: and they are come up from thence rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that ye have heard. 46And also Solomon sitteth on the throne of the kingdom. 47And moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed. 48And also thus said the king, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which hath given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing it.

49And all the guests that were with Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way. 50And Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar." 1 Kings 1:45-50

When the king arrives, you have a celebration! No matter who you are, you give him honor, ESPECIALLY if he is someone God put in that position! Maybe not everyone was prepared. Maybe they still had some preparation & "cleaning" to do...either way, when the king comes, you just rejoice!

The same is true for our Jesus! Our TRUE KING! Over any other king that is, was, or ever will be, Jesus deserves our highest praises, worship & celebration! He received it at the triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The disciples helped to create that atmosphere of praise. Some had mixed feelings about it...but that's because they didn't clean up yet! This time, I'm not talking about helping decorate the pathway on the street Jesus was travelling. I'm not talking about dusting themselves off to look presentable. I'm talking about their preparation of heart. In King Jesus' presence, that's the kind of preparation that matters! Because the rocks would cry out if we don't! Do the rocks have beautiful attire, or a fancy house to welcome Jesus into? No way! But they know how to do one thing if we don't: honor THE KING!

"And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;

38Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

39And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. 40And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out." Luke 19:37-40

THE KING IS HERE TODAY! He never left the scene. Every day He should have triumphal entry into our hearts, because He already won the victory for us! Don't let the rocks cry out in our place! Instead, give up any hardness of heart that may be there. Don't worry about what the house looks like (at least for the moment!) and just PRAISE THE LORD! All He truly wants is our hearts!!
