The Living Word

Based on Deuteronomy 30-31, Mark 15:1-25

"For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it." Deuteronomy 30:11‭-‬14.

God never meant His Word to be a hidden treasure, but a treasure out in the open to receive of freely! His Word is easily accessible, but once we obtain it, THEN it should become hidden in our hearts. We can't hold onto it weakly, because then it will live weakly in our lives! We need to hold it in our hearts, so it becomes a part of our living bodies! That way, we can see God's Word alive & active in us! Jesus is The Word made flesh, and we must allow The Word to do the same in us & through us when we receive the Holy Ghost!

"When all Israel is come to appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing. Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the Lord your God, and observe to do all the words of this law: And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the Lord your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it." Deuteronomy 31:11‭-‬13.

Just like in the Old Testament days described above, we need to gather and hear The Word of God spoken into our lives! We must read it & absorb it on our own, but also gather with others to receive it as a group of believers. Why is this? Well...one soldier can study and train on his own, but then he stands alone to fight the war! We need to be like an army, a group of soldiers connected, learning, building each other up, ready to fight the good fight of faith, keeping each other accountable and protected every step of the way! God did not design us to do it on our own...we need each other, and most importantly, WE NEED GOD!

"And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews? And they cried out again, Crucify him." Mark 15:12-13.

Just as some of the Israelites didn't realize the value of God's Word (that our lives truly depend on The Living Word), the Jews did the same when they yelled for Jesus to be crucified. They did not realize that He was & is THE WORD!!! They had always seen the priests & elders follow The Word, but never had they saw anyone EMBODY The Word! Bring it to life! They never thought God's Word could look so lowly & humble, but how else could our glorious God come down onto our level and get into our hearts with His Spirit!?

We need to realize the value of God's Word in our lives, and appreciate it! The Word is God, The Word is Life, and we need to let Him live & breathe through us so others can see the joy & hope in salvation which He brings!!

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
