The Mom in the Mirror

Based on James 1-3

Time to reflect on our reflections! What do we really look like? Who are we really reflecting? We may have a clouded view of ourselves when it comes to being a Mom. It may even be more negative than positive. Maybe we haven't taken the time to really reflect in a while...but any way you look it at, it's best to reflect Jesus. Don't compare yourself to any other, and use His Word to get the best reflection!

We recently talked about being a doer of The Word & work of The Lord and not a hearer only, and that's exactly what it means to reflect Jesus Christ:

"For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed."
James 1:23‭-‬25.

It's so easy to forget about ourselves when we just glance in a mirror from time to time...it's easy to lose sight of our personal purpose besides our purpose of being a Mom. Motherhood is an amazing ministry, but there's so much more that we can do as a woman of God that contributes to our calling. God gives us the full picture! We can see things more clearly! He says that we should look into the perfect law of liberty and not be a forgetful hearer of His Word. With God, we will not be forgotten! When we commit to His Word and become a doer of the work, we will be blessed! How wonderful it is to reflect Jesus!

"Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works." James 2:18.

Saying we have faith is one thing, but practicing it is a whole different story! Just having faith is like looking into that glass mirror. It doesn't say much...in fact, there may still be doubts about what's really there...but when we look into the Word of God and practice our faith by doing the work God has called us to, then we see ourselves and our purpose more clearly & we can live a much more happy, joyful & simple life with Jesus as our Guide!

"But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace." James 3:17‭-‬18.

The wisdom from above is more wonderful & beautiful than our own perception of ourselves. A mirror only says so much...but the wisdom of God that we get through His Word is "pure, peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy." When we reflect God's Word, we are beautiful, inside and out!
