The Nature of Jesus

Based on Job 38-40, Acts 16:1-21

"To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; On the wilderness, wherein there is no man; To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; And to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?"

Job 38:26‭-‬27

This is a small portion of God's response to Job. He names many details, large and small, about creation and the things that happen in nature. It's easy to "miss the forest for the trees" when we are focusing on nature, thinking that everything just goes according to its own flow...but we forget, it moves, works & functions according to GOD'S flow! Job definitely came to his debating friends with some understanding, but there were things which God had to show him that he wouldn't understand...and it's in those moments we just simply trust in God! Nature is HIS nature...and not only of the earth physically, but human nature & Spiritual nature, too!

"Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? Or who hath given understanding to the heart?" Job 38:36

Here is where there's a shift from outdoor nature to the nature of our hearts. God knows the ins & outs...He created it! Wisdom. Understanding. Trees. Mountains. Life! God questions Job in order to remind Him of these things. Before we need to figure out the purpose of "why me," we just need to figure out that our purpose is to trust God, no matter what! Our nature depends on His Divine Nature!

"And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour."

Acts 16:16‭-‬18

The Nature of Jesus, our God, is just so incredible! His Spirit was able to make this possessed woman speak of the salvation of God! It seems backwards. It seems to defy the laws of nature. It doesn't make sense...but Paul knew he had to cast the bad spirit out so she could truly be free. I'm sure after that, she could freely talk of the wonders of God, without letting that demonic nature overtake her! Jesus even takes authority over the demonic nature! So remember, no matter the nature of things, don't "miss the forest for the trees!" Focus on God!
