The Nocturnal Soul

Gina Pietrzak

Based on Proverbs 19-21, 2 Corinthians 7

"Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; And an idle soul shall suffer hunger."

Proverbs 19:15

If we are slothful, we will end up doing so much "nothingness" that we will just sleep through the daytime...the productive time...the most important times of our lives! We will become numb to the urgency & importance of certain events & essential tasks which need to get done...we will hunger and starve ourselves of the greatest things in life which God has to offer! We can't afford to be nocturnal souls, living backwards & missing out on opportunities!!

"There are many devices in a man's heart; Nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand." Proverbs 19:21

We can use all the "common sense" we have, but in the end, it's God's Word which has the final say! We can make tons of excuses for why we "can't," while God is saying "nothing is impossible!" (Luke 1:37). Are we going to be a part of the "can'ts" or the "cans"? Are we going to hide under the covers, or cover ourselves in the armor of God & get out there and be victorious!?

"Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; And a false balance is not good." Proverbs 20:23

Again, we can't live a backwards life! We can't think that we can sleep away responsibility, or pretend it doesn't exist...the best way to escape it is to bring it to God in prayer! We can feel peace as we await the next step in the process...but we can't stay still when God says go! We have to be ready to put the work in to see the results!

"Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." 2 Corinthians 7:1

God has such great promises in store for us...let's not waste His precious time living against His perfect Will for our lives. Let's not sleep when we are supposed to be awake, alert & active in His Kingdom! Let's set some goals & see God's goodness at work when we get to work too!

Surviving the Peace Plummet

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. Peacefulness is like that one workout that you know is going to take the most time...

A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...
