The Power in our Praise
Reading of the Day: Psalms 45-47
Psalms 47:7: For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
When we listen to the radio or sing songs when it's time for worship at church, we can get very caught up in routine...we can repeat words and, if we are not careful, "Christian music" could very easily become just a genre we prefer instead of a battle cry with power behind it! Most artists who write, produce & sing worship songs don't just sing & record...their hearts are poured out in praise to God, and they know that they are writing love songs to The Lord that mean something! Our praise can shake Heaven! And that's what stands out about this Scripture-David is reminding us to not just sing praise, but to sing praise with understanding! Meditate on the words, not just the beat! Sing from the heart, don't just let our mouths move on repeat! Also, let's sing in faith that each song can be a shout of victory for our lives specifically, not just lyrics that "sound good"! Psalms 22:3 says "But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel." He inhabits our praise! Praise is a place where God can dwell! Next time we are singing, let's remember that it's so much more than a song...there is POWER in our PRAISE!
