The Promise Lives On
Based on Joshua 1-3, Proverbs 8
"Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord."
Proverbs 8:34-35
Paul had the promise of the Holy Ghost. As we've read in 2 Corinthians, he did some courageous things! Now we go back to Joshua, who succeeded Moses in leading the Israelites to the promised land. This Old Testament step forward to the land of Jericho is just another way to show how the promise lives on, even all the way to the promise of Paul in the New Testament. Every step was crucial so that the promise would live on in God's people!
Joshua had some big shoes to fill-but as it states above in Proverbs, those who seek God's wisdom are blessed! And Joshua truly was. He did go forward in following The Lord & brought the people over Jordan, ready to face Jericho!
"Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses." Joshua 1:3
Every step toward the promise was a step in faith in the right direction-and God was going to give Joshua that territory! Just as with Moses, the promise lived on!
"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."
Joshua 1:8
If we are true to Truth as Joshua pursued to be, then we too will experience success in our lives. God's promise & favor will live on through us, especially since we have the opportunity to receive the Holy Ghost like Paul! That is the ultimate promise-God dwelling in us! But Joshua's steps took us closer & closer to that!
"Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
Joshua 1:9
Don't be afraid to pursue God's promise! Reliance upon His strength & wisdom will lead & guide you every step of the way! God's going to be there before we get there-so keep going!
"For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath."
Joshua 2:10-11
The 2 spies Joshua sent forward to spy out the land of Jericho were protected by a woman named Rahab so none of the town guards would find out who they were. Why would she do that? Wasn't she the enemy of God's people? Well, it wasn't about who the two spies were...she already knew about their God! Word of God and His miracles already lived on into this city-before any one of God's people ever set foot there! She already knew it was best to be on The Lord's side-to be part of the people who lived on in the promised land!
"Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee."
Joshua 2:18
That scarlet thread of promise foretells what the Blood of Jesus does for us today! Pleading the Blood over us is the lifeline to God's promise today! Going through the Acts 2:38 plan of salvation truly births us into His plan as one of God's people! THE PROMISE LIVES ON!
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Acts 2:38
"And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan."
Joshua 3:17
So, when the spies safely returned to Joshua, they headed to Jericho. But the first stop was the river Jordan! And just like with Moses, they were able to pass right through it! The promise lives on. If God did it once, He will do it again! Keep pleading the Blood. The Lord will get us through this time as well!

Surviving the Peace Plummet
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. Peacefulness is like that one workout that you know is going to take the most time...
A Moment of Silence.
As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...
