The Source of the Storm

Based on Psalms 89-90, Romans 14

"Thou rulest the raging of the sea: When the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them." Psalm 89:9

I am so thankful to have a God who calms our storms! Even before Jesus walked on water & calmed the raging seas, the Psalmists were claiming it! But how quick are we to create our own storms? God might get us out of an uncontrollable storm, but then we go and conjure up our own storm by delving into some drama we shouldn't be in! Life happens, storms come, that's true...but we don't have to be the source of the storms!

"I will set his hand also in the sea, And his right hand in the rivers. He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, My God, and the rock of my salvation." Psalm 89:25‭-‬26

When we are in a storm, all we have to do is cry out to Him! We don't have to busy ourselves with coming up with our own solution...that usually causes more drama & adds more waves to the storm! We must trust in God! We must pray our way out! We must take a hard look at ourselves and see if we are the source of the storm! It won't stop until we get to the source!

"For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's." Romans 14:8

Our life is His! When we take control, that's usually when we become the source of our storms!

"But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ." Romans 14:10

"Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another." Romans 14:19

Let's not partake of the drama which brings a stressful storm upon our lives! Let's rather follow after peace & encouragement! Let's not stir up a storm as the source of our problems, but let's seek to humble ourselves in prayer to God & bring peace upon ourselves & others!
