The Strength of His Love
Based on Leviticus 19-20, Matthew 27:51-66
Love drives us to do crazy things sometimes...things we wouldn't normally do...most of all, love gives us the strength to sacrifice...especially when we love Jesus first! Since God is love (1 John 4:8), He will give us strength to love others more deeply. To strengthen our commitments. To help us be consistent in our devotion to Him first, and to our loved ones. He will help us when it's hardest. When we are at our weakest. It's not just a love...it's strength!
"Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord." Leviticus 19:18
It may not seem fair at times...but there is more strength in love than in a grudge! Holding negativity drains...but the love of Jesus always sustains! Through any time of sacrifice, trial, battle, or storm! Jesus helps us to love even when it feels like there's none left to give. He loves us, and He helps us to love those around us and sacrifice for their well-being and happiness!
"And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God."
Leviticus 19:33-34
When we fall in love with Jesus, we can even have the strength to love a stranger! Again, all this starts with Jesus...how much are we willing to sacrifice for Him, not just a loved one or a stranger? Is Jesus a stranger to you know? Just remember, a closeness with Him leads to greater closeness with others! LOVE JESUS FIRST! Like Joseph of Arimathea, who loved Jesus so much, he gave Him his own tomb:
"And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed."
Matthew 27:59-60
Let the strength of Jesus' love show what love truly is!
