The Ultimate Recovery

Based on 1 Samuel 30-31, Luke 13:23-35

"The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee. And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected. Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem." Luke 13:31-‬33.

How often do we speak confidently to our problems and tell them "God's got this"? These problems are like little sneaky foxes. They creep in and steal all our confidence, hope, and anything else we give in & allow them to take. In these moments, when everything seems like it's been stolen from us, we always have our God to turn to! As Jesus spoke so assuredly, "Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem." We must keep walking. We must keep going...and the only way to do it is to let God be our strength! WE WILL RECOVER WHAT WAS LOST IN SOME WAY!

"So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives. Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep. And David's two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite. And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God."
1 Samuel 30:3‭-‬6.

When it seemed hopeless, like all was taken from David & his army, David turned to God for encouragement! Although he was just as distressed as the others, because we are human and that happens, he didn't panic! He didn't let the little foxes steal his hope in God along with everything else that had been taken! And when he decided to turn to God, he found the assurance & stability he was looking for:

"And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all." 1 Samuel 30:8.

THEY WERE GOING TO RECOVER ALL! And not only that, the little fox was going to be defeated! Jesus is our ultimate recovery after a storm of problems...not only because He helps us to recover all in this life...but because He gives us stability in eternity! And because we must be more thankful for The Provider, not the thing provided.

He is our rest. He is our hope. He is our recovery. Turn to Him today!
