The Upper Hand

Reading of the Day: Numbers 31-33

Numbers 33:3: And they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the morrow after the passover the children of Israel went out with an high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians.

At the end of these chapters, Moses was to document the journeys of Israel, starting from the time they left Egypt. This was their new beginning, and God wanted Moses to record these things as they went forward into their next chapter! Their story was literally continuing to be written and told, right before their eyes! They would always have these words to look back on, and their history would forever be a part of ours as well! And one pattern is certain throughout all of these writings: when we lift our hands to The One Who writes our story, we always have the upper hand! And we can then take a pen in hand, journal our journeys, and see the goodness of God all over our lives! Since Israel worshipped the One True God, and not the idols of Egypt, they were favored and crossed through the Red Sea into the newest chapter of their story! Their hands always praised The Lord, served Him, and worked for Him...and when we raise our hands to The Lord, we literally always have the upper hand-the Hand of God upon our lives! Remember, when Moses held his hands up in one of Israel's first battles, they had victory...it's only when we let our hands down & busy ourselves with distractions that we lose that upper hand & victory! We must lift our hands in praise & openly receive the Upper Hand of God upon our lives...He is the Author & Finisher of our faith, and His Hand writes our story:

Hebrews 12:2: "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
