The Value of Silence

Gina Pietrzak

Based on Proverbs 10-12, 2 Corinthians 4

"In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: But he that refraineth his lips is wise." Proverbs 10:19

"The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: But the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness." Proverbs 10:32

Discretion is such an undervalued treasure! It seems like we are always trying to come up with the perfect thing to say, knowing full well that there are plenty of perfect things we should NOT say, even though they would totally fit in the moment! The value of silence is so great, and we need to be more patient in waiting on The Lord for that thing which will encourage instead of discourage!

"An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: But through knowledge shall the just be delivered." Proverbs 11:9

...Especially knowledge of the Word of God! That's the best dictionary to go by in looking forward to the perfect thing to say...just speak God's Word! Spend some time in the silence with Jesus, praying and searching the Scriptures, and that right & needful thing will come up! We don't want to destroy; we want to speak life!

"He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: But a man of understanding holdeth his peace." Proverbs 11:12

"A talebearer revealeth secrets: But he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter." Proverbs 11:13

If we truly love our neighbor, we will realize that holding our tongue holds the friendship together more than speaking many things to them! Our faithfulness can truly be proven in the silence! We can't trip over our words when we are saying nothing! Again, let's spend time with The Lord developing our thoughts, especially in times where our friends are going through crises!

Surviving the Peace Plummet

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. Peacefulness is like that one workout that you know is going to take the most time...

A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...
