The Word is Alive!

Gina Pietrzak

Based on Romans 9-10, Psalm 29

Continuing on in Paul's great passion to get the Truth to all people, the focus is still on the fact that we are to go beyond the law into a dimension of greater faith & understanding of God. It is not just about following God's Word by tradition, it is about following God's Word to get closer to God. Why?

...Because the Word is ALIVE! Remember, the Word was spoken before it was written by men inspired of God! The Word stems directly from the voice of God Himself! David even talks about the magnificence of God's voice back in Psalms:

"The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty." Psalms 29:3‭-‬4.

That's also what Paul wants to emphasize in this passage-that God's Word is more than writing upon a page. We need to write it upon our hearts! The Word is living because Jesus is the Word made flesh (John 1:14). We are to have a relationship with Him through the reading of His Word...THE BIBLE IS NOT JUST A HISTORY BOOK!

"Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?" Romans 9:20.

If we take the Word as just simply words, and analyze it as critics, of course we are going to start to question God. We are going to question the meaning of life & our existence. But if we understand that the Word is more than a law, but a meaningful relationship with God, we will learn to trust Him as our Creator!

"What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?" Romans 9:22‭-‬24.

God probably should have lost patience with us some time ago, but He hasn't yet! He has endured with much longsuffering to work with us vessels (believing & non-believing). God loves every soul and wants to show that love in a relationship through His Word!

"But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;" Romans 10:6‭-‬8.

Don't miss the Messiah! He is not in heights unattainable or depths unreachable-He is in His Word which is accessible! THE WORD IS NIGH THEE! SO JESUS IS NIGH THEE TOO! Write it in your heart & speak it with your mouth-give the Word a voice in your own bodily vessel! Spread & proclaim the goodness of God!

"The voice of the Lord divideth the flames of fire. The voice of the Lord shaketh the wilderness; the Lord shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh." Psalms 29:7‭-‬8.

The Lord's voice is powerful, so the Word is powerful!!

Before there was a word, there was a voice. Before there were people, there was God. We can never forget that our lives are not our own. We are not the ones in charge (because more often than not, things don't go according to our plans!).

There is a level of trust Paul is talking about which stems from more than just Jewish tradition. It stems from a strong bond with God, and that's what the people were losing sight of...are we losing sight of God? Are the ebbs & flows of life carrying us farther away? We need to root ourselves once again in His Word, but seek to hear His voice!

Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. Peacefulness is like that one workout that you know is going to take the most time...

A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...
