Time for a Refresh!

Reading of the Day: Leviticus 10-12

Leviticus 11:45: For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

Throughout these chapters, there is a lot of emphasis on what was clean & unclean to eat and touch. Much of these things were customary of the time period...things which God knew would not be healthy choices for where society was at during that specific time. Some of these dietary customs would change later in the New Testament, but that does not mean the Bible is contradictory-in fact, God is actually just making clear what is law, and what is cultural custom...but beyond those details, there is something about the idea of "clean & unclean" that never changes throughout the Bible...and that's the refreshing feeling we get when we are cleansed, pure & holy before The Lord! That's what most of these customs were put into place to protect & promote-holiness to The Lord! Today, we can also experience this refresh, although maybe not in the same way it was done in the Old Testament. Today, we can be transformed by God's Spirit as He enters our hearts, we can be washed in the waters of baptism, and most importantly, we can start fresh and stay fresh! We can keep the "refresh" flowing as we walk in The Spirit every day of our lives! I think we can all feel and sense that it's time...spring is on its way, that urge to "spring clean" comes upon us, and we want to declutter & completely start over. And that's what this is all about! Staying clean, fresh and pure, not only in our homes but in our souls...and it's never too late to start again! It's not a one-time moment of "finally getting it" and "finally becoming perfect," but it's a daily refresh of staying committed & repenting and refreshing after each mistake! Who else is with me?
