To Run, or to Return?

Based on Amos 4-6, Revelation 7

"And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered. So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD." Amos 4:7‭-‬8

In this fourth chapter of Amos, we see many examples of God using very urgent signs and situations in order to be warning signs for His people to seek Him & return to Him once again...yet they did not return...just as the raindrops came down running, the people were running from their God. The question arises, "What will it take?" Can we ask this to ourselves? Does it take a lot for us to seek God? I truly plan to seek God in prayer & His Word on a much deeper level in this coming year; I know I need it & pray you'll join me once again for a year of exploring the Bible together! I want to pray more "preventative" prayers instead of "panic" prayers, where I am more "prayed up" going into situations instead of trying to desperately pray my way out! Let's not be on the run, let's return!

"For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:"

Amos 5:4

What a simple command! But why so easily avoided? If we seek God, we live...so who would want the alternative!? I am not worthy of His greatness. I am not worthy of how much He loves us...but He STILL desires us to seek Him and give us life! Return, don't run!

"Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken." Amos 5:14

He shall be with us, but we need to choose HIM, not a temporary fix. Not a false sense of security. Not something which will corrupt us in the end...we need to return to Jesus & reject anything which distracts us from His Perfect Will in our lives!

"And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel."

Revelation 7:4

"After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;"

Revelation 7:9

Many people will be saved. Many people will make the choice to return here on earth, which will cause an eternal return to Jesus later...will we keep up the good fight of faith? Will we be those chosen ones? Let's encourage one another daily as we continue to build a strong relationship with God!
