Too close for comfort...
Bible Reading Today: 1 Samuel 4-8
1 Samuel 7:10 And as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel: but the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten before Israel.
In this amazing event, Samuel kept praying & offering to The Lord as the enemy inched closer & closer to God's people...they would have been defeated if God did not thunderously & miraculously step onto the scene! The enemy was too close for comfort...but Samuel was too close to God to stay his comfort zone too! Samuel needed to step out boldly in prayer, offer an offering, and expect God to do the seemingly impossible! Samuel must have had a great love for God and His people, and a great faith, for God to do such a powerful and quick work, even while the enemy was already approaching the Israelites! How close is our next tragedy, unfortunate circumstance, or negative situation? Is it too close for comfort? Well Good News! Jesus has risen today, and wants to keep rising up in our hearts as the True Comforter, The Holy Ghost! If He is too close, we can't stay comfortable with defeat/worldly circumstances! We have to step out in faith like Samuel! We have to call on the Name of Jesus, repent, get baptized in Jesus' Name & receive the Holy Ghost, speaking in new tongues! Let's stay too close to The Comforter in Jesus' Name!
