Watch Out!
Based on Isaiah 20-22, Ephesians 6
"and he cried, A lion: My Lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights:" Isaiah 21:8
A watchman had a very important job...they were protectors of cities against any form of trouble...but what about the downtime? There must have been lots of things that DIDN'T happen...it must have been easy to slack at times...but that's when a true watchman is proven! "Watching" can be related to "praying." Do we stop praying when there's no tragedy? Or, are we faithful in prayer no matter what, in order to prepare us for the hard times-we have to watch out!
"The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night? The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come." Isaiah 21:11-12
There are people out there relying on us to watch & pray...we may not know it, but even the people who seem the most dismissive of God feel secure knowing that someone is praying for them! Soon, they may ask us, "Watchmen, what of the night?" "Watchman, how's it looking?" "Prayer warrior, is everything ok?" Are we prepared to give an answer of encouragement to them?
"praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;" Ephesians 6:18
When we repent, get baptized & receive God's Spirit within us, our time of watching & praying becomes strengthened. It becomes more powerful than any trouble that could come against our watchtower! We become more equipped & ready for the downtime too, when nothing seems to be happening...just remember, in the nothingness, the next strategy of attack from the enemy is being planned, ready to jump at the chance when we are unprepared...so let's watch out & seek to pray in the Spirit!
