Well-Watered Words

Reading of the Day: 2 Samuel 13-15

2 Samuel 15:30: And David went up by the ascent of mount Olivet, and wept as he went up, and had his head covered, and he went barefoot: and all the people that was with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.

This is the time of year where we can expect rain most of the time. And while it may make it difficult to run to the car & drive through the storm, we also know that the phrase, "April showers bring May flowers" holds true through it all! Rain may be an inconvenience to us, but to the earth, seeds are being watered. We can soon expect things to bloom & add beauty to the world around us! And that's exactly what pours out of us when we get into intense, heart-felt prayer before The Lord! It may seem unnatural or inconvenient at times to stop & pray about everything we are dealing with, just like we think that the rain outside causes an inconvenience in our travel plans...but we know that prayer will help us to grow & help the world to change around us, just like rain! When tears drop & we feel so burdened for our loved ones while we are praying, we are also watering seeds which God will help to grow! Something WILL come of those well-watered words of prayer! This is exactly what David did in the above Scripture! He & his people wept & went up a hill humbly seeking God's help in yet another difficult situation. David's son Absalom, after a series of many events, was stealing the hearts of the people and ultimately wanted to steal the kingship from his father David! But no matter the hardship, David stays faithful to God with a heart that deeply wants His will over anything else. What a true king! Knowing David's track record of coming before The Lord in humility, we can look forward to what God will do in this situation, although it looks dark & depressing at the moment. This is the same with us! When we pray, things may not be looking good. We may be in a dark place. Those tears might be flowing like a river. But remember, they are not only flowing, they are watering! Soon flowers will bloom. Soon things will change. Soon the season of weeping will end...but our well-watered words of prayer will live on forever!
