What's getting in the way?

Bible Reading 10/18: Matthew 17, Mark 9, Luke 9:28-62

Luke 9:42 And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.

There was an unclean, torturous, familiar spirit gripping the child in this passage of Scripture. Oftentimes, he would go into uncontrollable fits of rage. Even when he was on his way to Jesus, on the way to his healing, the habit from this spirit gripped him and he had an episode again. Thankfully, he made it to Jesus & received his healing & deliverance! So what's getting in our way? This child did not let his episodes stop him, and the child's father had the sense that Jesus had authority over the issue, however scared & desperate he may have been. We could easily let our past haunt us and remind us of our faulty condition. We could easily turn back feeling unworthy of the healing & deliverance we so desperately need. We could just accept the fact that it's easier to fall into those habits. But we need to have more faith than that! That's what this whole passage is about! The disciples couldn't cast out the spirit because they held onto some unbelief, and the child's father was courageous enough to come to Jesus, yet still feared for his child's life even in the presence of Jesus Himself! Jesus doesn't promise perfection when we overcome the obstacles and come to Him, or else we would be right in feeling unworthy. He promises a trusting relationship with an understanding that faith will help us make it through the next challenge! So, again...what's getting in the way of something as great as that!?

A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...
