What we build now...

Based on 2 Chronicles 1-3, John 10:1-23

"And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the LORD , and an house for his kingdom. And Solomon told out threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand to hew in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them."

2 Chronicles 2:1‭-‬2

Sometimes we go through so much struggle to work through a project or season of our lives...so much planning, preparation, supplies...and we wonder, is it all worth it? Will this level of difficulty REALLY pay off one day? The Good News is, when it's a work of The Lord, we don't have to question whether or not what we build now will have any meaning or value in the future...when prayer is a part of what we are doing, we will see future fruit! Solomon's temple was a massive project envisioned by his father David. The vision already passed down, and so would the work and the fruit to be born of it.

"And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods. But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?" 2 Chronicles 2:5‭-‬6

We can easily complain about all we do, but when we look at the reason & meaning behind it, that we are doing it for God, then we can take joy even in the times of struggle! The house was a great undertaking because God is great! What we are doing now seems like a great big project because we have a great big God, and when we pray about it, He will give us direction on what to do going forward!

"And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch." John 10:23

Many years later, Jesus was able to walk on what was left of Solomon's temple. It had been destroyed in the past, but this part was left and called "Solomon's Porch." Who would have thought that this place built for God to dwell would be the place where God Himself, Jesus Christ, walked many years later?! Although it was pretty much destroyed, there was still a porch, platform & place which could be remembered and attributed to Solomon's hard work. God sees your hard work. He sees the long hours & tired days...let's keep all that we are doing in prayer, making sure it's a work which pleases & glorifies God. He will strengthen us & bring us through, and we will see that what we build now, especially in the lives of our children, will give them a great foundation to walk upon! And even if we don't see fruit from it now, there's always a Heaven awaiting!
