When Betrayal Prevails
Based on Ezekiel 22-23, 1 Peter 1
"And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah." Ezekiel 23:4
These 2 sisters, representing Samaria & Jerusalem, WERE The Lord's, as this Scripture states. This chapter then goes into detail about the sad betrayal of these 2 sisters against God. They go out & commit adultery with other Nations, finding the world more enticing than the pure & holy love of God. We all understand, in some form or another, how betrayal feels...but how much more does our Father & Creator feel it when we give Him the least of our attention? I definitely need to keep this in mind myself-my life has lots of scattered & distracted moments, so I need to make sure I find a focused moment with God somewhere!
"that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:" 1 Peter 1:7
We are going to be tried. We are going to be tempted. There are going to be situations where we feel the need to compromise...but we can't let go of God! We can't let betrayal prevail! If we stand for nothing, we will fall for anything...if we don't like betrayal, we can't be hypocrites and turn our backs on God! When the urge comes to turn to something or someone else who promotes a bad habit in us, let's dive into prayer for the strength to stay committed! Remember, GOD LOVES US MOST!
"whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls." 1 Peter 1:8-9
We can't betray God just because of the challenge or temptation which lies before us. We see many things which can draw our attention away from God, and so we need to remember the joy, glory & salvation which is all a part of a beautiful relationship with Him!

The Heart of the Struggle
