When the Son is in View

Based on 2 Samuel 23-24, Luke 19:1-27

"And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain." 2 Samuel 23:4

David's words spoken here paint a beautiful picture of the sun's magnificence. So much beauty is brought to into light & life when the sun shines upon it. When we can see the sun clearly, without clouds as the Scripture states, shining and reflecting upon the water droplets on the grass, it is such a heart-warming sight as the sun not only lights up our world, but gives us heat, too!

We have recently started planting a garden by starting our plants indoors. We have many pots of plants crowded by one window, and so all of them bow & reach for as much sun as they can get! They all literally look as if they are bent, bowing down!

All of these same attributes, reactions, and need for the sun apply to our Lord, Jesus Christ! When the Son is in view in our lives, things become more clear...not clouded by our own judgments, emotions or confusion. Jesus is the Son, but He is our God, and so we must give Him authority to shine into our lives! We should not bow down and serve any other! Like plants, we can't survive without the Son!

"And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. 2And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. 3And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. 4And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. 5And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house." Luke 19:1-5

"And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. 9And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. 10For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." Luke 19:8-10

Zacchaeus was a man who stole money from people, but conviction began to grip his heart, and he felt he really needed to see Jesus. He wanted the Son to be in view! Being short, he had to climb to higher ground, where he could see more clearly. No longer clouded by the things he was struggling with. Finally, he saw Jesus, and Jesus saw him. Not only that, but the Light of the world reached into Zacchaeus' heart, completely changing him! He ended up restoring money in abundance to those he stole from!

"Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow." 2 Samuel 23:5

David continues on his last song describing his everlasting covenant with God. Although some situations occurred which allowed his sons to become corrupted, this covenant would continue on generations past David, all the way to Jesus Christ! So, even when something looks like it's not growing yet...a plant, a plan, a goal, a dream, a promise from God...just know that if the Son is in view, our God Jesus Christ, then we can pray & plan for a miracle! He will give us exactly what we need, even if it looks a little different than expected! The sun causes plants to grow, but it takes time! Trust God's timing. Don't look at what you're waiting for, look to the One who will make it grow! Remember, the Son IS God! Jesus IS The Light of this whole world! We may not be able to see the fulfillment of our dreams yet, but when we can see Jesus, we can see fulfillment in greater Light!!
