When You're Taken the Wrong Way

Based on 1 Chronicles 19-21

David was someone with such an understanding heart. David's heart was so compassionate to others because he realized the love & mercy God showed to him. The world sometimes could not understand his generosity, however. In a world of kings & kingdoms in the Bible, no king would take an act of kindness without wondering what was expected in return, or if there was some evil plot behind it...

"2: And David said, I will show kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me. And David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. So the servants of David came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.
3: But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou that David doth honor thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee for to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land?" 1 Chronicles 19:2-3.

David was a man of integrity, honor, and again, kindness. He even was caring toward the family members of his friends, just because they were related to someone he befriended. This was taken completely the wrong way by the princes of Ammon. They suspected David of having an alternate wicked reason for showing kindness. In return, they embarrassed & shamed David's servants for coming to them...

But David never questioned God! David knew he was acting in a godly manner, so he was not in the wrong for what happened. When it came to fighting the Ammonites, David sent Joab. Joab had a "David-like" godly attitude, and offered some encouragement before getting the victory:

"13: Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight." 1 Chronicles 19:13.

I'm here to offer you some encouragement today too! If you feel misunderstood, if you feel like you stand alone, if you feel like you'd be "taken the wrong way" (especially when it comes to wanting to get closer to God), don't worry. You're NOT alone! Through every Mom struggle, we're in this together. If you want to take the next steps in faith to draw closer to God, I assure you, you'll never regret it...and I'm here to travel with you!! We are all "pilgrims making progress" as my Pastor always says! David had one crucial "secret to success" during every challenge-he stuck with GOD! And it really was no secret-he had parades in the streets, honoring the God who made his life worth living!
