Where are the results?

"And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir. And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir." Genesis 15:3‭-‬4. Remember when we talked about that promise to Abram? The one about how he would have many nations of children even though his wife was barren? Well, in these chapters, he is still waiting. Take God's promise as Abram's "new year's resolution" straight from God. That's a big, exciting promise! But, Abram still wasn't seeing results. So, he said that a child born in his house from one of his stewards could just be his heir. That would work, right?

Not exactly. God still wanted Abram to hold to the original promise that he himself would bear a son with his wife Sarai. God then encouraged Abram by saying, "...Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be." Genesis 15:5. God has a way of lifting us up in the process toward our promise.

Face it, waiting is hard. Sometimes we'd even rather hear a "no" than have no results. But there's always a reason for it. Maybe there are some things we have to learn and some changes we need to make along the way? Although we are results-driven, let's stay focused on God and keep pushing toward our goals throughout 2020! Remember, God is literally there to lift us up and encourage us:

"But thou, O Lord , art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah." Psalms 3:3‭-‬4.

He will lift you up to look at the stars. He will give you a glimpse of the results to come, if we stay patient in the process!
