Willingness of Heart
Bible Reading Today: Exodus 33-35
Exodus 35:29 The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the LORD, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which the LORD had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses.
I've seen a touching picture online of a stick person holding up a heart toward Heaven, saying, "It's not much, but it's all I have..." It's a very simple picture with a truly amazing statement that is totally accurate. We can't give God anything better than our whole heart! In the end, that's all God really wants! When our hearts are invested in Him, His Word, His church, His ministry & prayer time with Him, we are giving our best. If our hearts are not in it, the great work we are doing simply becomes work. That's it. The relationship factor is disconnected, and all point & purpose is lost. When we love The Lord, anything we could be asked to do, or anything we might be asked to give up, seems like a light request! The children of Israel had willing hearts to contribute to the work of The Lord in their day. They used all their talents & materials to put the tabernacle together. If it didn't start with willingness of heart, all the work would have been in vain. People probably would have complained or given up...but again, when we love The Lord, it's not work anymore! It's an expression of love. If your heart is all you have for God, then you have all you need!
