Yet I will rejoice!
Bible Reading Today: Habakkuk
Habakkuk 3:18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
"Yet" is a short, YET powerful word...it can mean "still," "even now," or other variations of that. Especially in this Scripture, it means "no matter what." In the Scripture previous to this one, to give this "yet" some context, it states, "Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:" Habakkuk 3:17. Even though all this negativity was going to take place, Habakkuk said "Yet I will rejoice"! We also have our lists of complaints, but what do we follow it up with? Do we have a "yet" no matter what attitude? Or do have a "fret" no matter what attitude? And not only can we rejoice in The Lord because of Who He is for us on earth, but this Scripture also reminds us of the joy we have in His salvation for our eternity! When Jesus gave His life, He gave us the way of salvation. We take part in His loving sacrifice and self-denial through repentance, water baptism in Jesus' Name, and receiving The Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in new tongues! That's our own death, burial & Resurrection Spiritually! When we say "yet," we won't regret!
