YOU WILL FIND REST.

YOU WILL FIND REST.

"Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." Matthew 11:29. Most of the time, those relaxing moments of our lives when we can truly "take a breather" are few & far between...but with Jesus, we are guaranteed to find rest!

"For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11:30.

"He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters." Psalms 23:2. That meek & lowly state of submission is where we are able to lie down & find rest! It's hard to rest when we try to rise above our circumstances in a prideful way, trying to solve everything in our own power:

"Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts."
Zechariah 4:6.

As Moms, I think we can sometimes be afraid of rest. We feel as though rest does not accomplish anything. If there are any stay-at-home Moms reading, this is especially true. I've struggled with feeling like I do not deserve rest, because I am already at home in my comfortable environment all day. But in all reality, our home is our job. It is not always my comfort zone, and on the other side of the spectrum, it can be my greatest form of stress if I am not careful (this is something I pray about constantly!). Even still, I wouldn't trade it for the world!

So, let's also be SERIOUSLY honest with ourselves: it is real work. The labor didn't stop in the delivery room, and parenthood is a life commitment. That being said, there is good news that balances all this out: after rest comes RESTORATION! There should be no shame in "taking a breather," because those moments gear us up for life's next adventure. Biblically speaking, we are just picking up our next stone, anxiously awaiting to toss it right in the forehead of our next giant! If we play the "energizer bunny" trying to do everything in our own strength, we will burn out down a rabbit hole. Rest may look like weakness, but when we are restored, we are 10x stronger! We are the strongest on our knees in prayer!

Surrendering ourselves to The Lord in a restful moment focused upon Him will ultimately restore us, preparing us for what lies ahead. Giving our problems to Jesus is the most powerful thing we can do! In that humble release, we will surely find rest.

Surviving the Peace Plummet

Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. Peacefulness is like that one workout that you know is going to take the most time...

A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...

The Heart of the Struggle

Focus Scripture: But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19 Hello again! It's been about 4 months since I've stepped back into this space, and I have to say, I am taking very gentle steps. It's been on my heart so much to write again, but I am treading lightly. I may not post every day, unless God leads me there again...but for now, I am just moving forward in God's grace. I have some blog ideas stored up that I've been saving over time as I reflect upon His...
